Grand Hotel Adriatico

A really lovely and luxurious stay. A grand looking hotel located very near the train station. The area immediately around looks a little run down but the once you enter the hotel, it’s large , bright and very clean. Staff were professional, courteous and hardworking. We have a problem with a bathroom leaking on the last night and overall, we were very pleased with the way for the staff handled the situation given how late in the Night it was and the limited options that were available During a busy Easter period. Breakfast staff were consistently efficient and courteous in on the very busy mornings we were there. Small touches were also nice: bathrobe and slippers; they left Easter chocolates and cake , and colouring for the kids. There was fruit that came with the room. Lovely toiletries, ample towels available. Overall very clean as well, with the room being made up every day. There was a launderette right next door which was pretty straightforward to use.

Single room was well appointed, with twin bed, desk, closet, TV, kettle and tea. While small, the room did not feel cramped. Bathroom was large enough for comfortable use. Included breakfast buffet was good (less extensive than some of the other European hotels I have stayed in recently, but bountiful compared to most US hotel breakfast buffets). Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, with staff fluent in several languages including English. The lobby was well decorated and very comfortable for waiting/relaxing. The location of the hotel is central to the old town, just a block from the river.

The hotel was located a short walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station which was very convenient for us as we arrived by train from Rome. The rooms, though smaller than expected, were beautifully decorated. The shower was over a jacuzzi, though we didn't avail ourselves of the jacuzzi. Breakfast was adequate but not particularly exciting. Front desk staff were OK but the housekeeping and breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. The Duomo is within walking distance too, and that area has lots of shops!
